Well, now it's really really official. Amal Alamuddin's law firm — you know, the professional group behind the woman who nabbed the unnabbable George Clooney and took him off the market — officially confirmed Clooney and Alamuddin's pending nuptials this afternoon in a statement.
"The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married," the firm stated.
Alamuddin has worked as a part of the firm's international law team since 2010 and is currently representing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The chief executive of Doughty Street Chambers, Robin Jackson, also offered up his best wishes. "She brings a bright light to everything she is involved in, and I am so delighted at her happy news, "Jackson said.

The firm's statement is the first official confirmation of Clooney's engagement, after Alamuddin, whom the perpetual bachelor has dated since October, was spotted twice this past week wearing a large diamond ring on that finger. While Clooney's reps won't comment, his mom Nina, whose been married for more than fifty years, is thrilled to chime in: "'You can say I'm extremely happy, Amal's a lovely girl,'" she told the U.K.'s Daily Mail. "We weren't at all surprised when they told us they were engaged, and we couldn't be happier for them."
"On an intellectual level, they are equals," Mrs. Clooney added. "That is very important to him. Amal's world couldn't be more different from the Hollywood lifestyle."
According to People a source close to the couple also added: "I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together for ever."
After Clooney's short marriage to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 and long string of girlfriends, we sure hope this lasts!
