Wedding décor inspiration can come from the most unexpected places—a napkin, a pen, the tiniest pattern. So, when we chose "Coastal Classic" as one of our four Brides Live Wedding décor options, we knew that we'd find beauty in nearly everything preppy and nautical!
The final concept, created by wedding and event planner Brooke Keegan, is an understated, elegant tableau that incorporates blues, whites, and pops of light chartreuse. It combines traditional preppy elements and unexpected twists, like bamboo-handled flatware. How did it all come together? Our inspiration board says it all.
We started with the most basic seaside aspects, so, naturally, blue and white were our go-to colors. The Blue 2748C Pantone chip is a standard navy, which we found in the striped glass plate and that awesome patterned serving set. The latticed white lanterns were thoroughly East Coast, as well.
The next thing that comes to mind when envisioning coastal style? Lush greenery. The pale chartreuse-toned Pantone 366C chip features just the right amount of green to evoke a calm summer day. We can just picture sipping that celery-cilantro fizz cocktail while sitting on the docks of Cod, while the verdant green bouquet is proof that wedding flowers don't have to be white to feel bridal. The green-patterned teapot contained our ideal shade, and it features a cool pattern, which we used plenty of in our final design.
In any wedding, don't be afraid to mix patterns: The teapot, plates, napkins, and the fabulous Chinoiserie-inspired wedding cake show how similar tones can unite even wildly different prints. It kept our coastal classic décor look vibrant, not stuffy.
