What happens when Marchesa, beloved bridal designer and red carpet regular, teams up with stationery gurus Wedding Paper Divas? A magical collection of romantic wedding invitations that would appeal to stylish bohemian, glamorous, and vintage brides.
The recently launched collaboration features eight ornate designs — including "night blooms" (a dramatic black-and-white floral), "breathtaking blossoms" (a watercolor lavender-and-green floral print), and "little lace" (above, a black-and-white lace print). All of these invites are inspired by gowns from Marchesa's Spring 2014 runway and recent bridal collections.
We were lucky enough to sit down with the fabulous women behind the Marchesa empire, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, to talk about their latest partnership. The ladies explained it's a natural extension and reflection of their covetable wedding gowns. "We really wanted them to reflect the designs and the dresses," said Marchesa co-founder Keren Craig. "We really were looking at the embroideries, laces, and things that we have on our dresses — and in the bridal collection especially — and we wanted to translate that onto the stationery itself."
"It was a very organic process," added Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman. "It was going back to our dresses and seeing what we thought would work on paper. It was an interesting process to see how you can translate embroidery ... We just wanted it to be romantic, beautiful, and to have that special side that a wedding deserves."
Here, a look at a few of the designs in the exciting new collection and the dresses that inspired each suite!
