If you've decided on a backyard wedding, you're probably busy thinking about sprucing up the yard and ordering all the necessary rentals. But have you thought about your parents' neighbors? Should you let them know about your upcoming nuptials? Do they need to know? Our wedding etiquette experts are here to answer your questions in our daily post.

We're having a wedding in my parents' backyard—do we need to invite the neighbors?

We love a backyard wedding — they're so romantic and charming! But imagine if your parents' next-door neighbor just so happened to power up his lawnmower as the ceremony was about to begin? What a catastrophe! Which is why it's very important to give your neighbors a heads-up about your nuptials. Ask your folks to go over and let them know; or, if they feel more comfortable, your parents can write a quick note and drop that off. It's best to let the neighbors know at least six weeks in advance. Better yet, invite them (especially if your parents have a friendly relationship with them)! If you're lucky, they might even volunteer their driveway for overflow parking.
