Crop tops first infiltrated the ready-to-wear runways a few seasons back and haven't left since. Shortly becoming the bread-and-butter of fast fashion retailers, shirts with trimmed hemlines have been spotted on everyone from super-cool teens and fashionable business women to celebrities on the red carpet. This past bridal runway season, though, the belly-baring style made its way into some of our favorite designer's wedding dress collections. This got us thinking: Would you, dear readers, wear a crop top down the aisle?

No doubt this statement-making silhouette is for a specific type of bride — daring and modern come to mind. But also brides on a budget may want to consider since purchasing a two-piece wedding day look may be more affordable than a traditional gown. In case you want to flaunt a sliver of skin on your big day, we rounded up a few of our favorite crop top designs from this season.

Hayley Paige took the warrior princess route, pairing a flouncy ruffled gray skirt with a tough-as-nails shimmering crystal-adorned high-neck alabaster top (see above).

Houghton Fall 2014 Crop Top Wedding Dress

Houghton, on the other hand, crafted a crop top wedding day ensemble that's perfect for a boho bride: an ivory lace long-sleeve top sits above a full lace A-line skirt, with only a sliver of the model's midriff in sight.

Mara Hoffman tried the trend in the form of a shimmering, silk georgette beaded gold bustier and matching skirt. The amount of visible skin is even less than Houghton's lace look.

Lastly, playful brides looking for a pop of personality will adore Tara Latour's fringe-tastic top complemented with a full A-line skirt.

So, whether you're feeling fierce like Hayley Paige's bride or a bit more conservative a la Mara Hoffman, a crop top is a great way to play with proportion on your wedding day.
