If you thought dessert (or the wedding cake) was the last course of the wedding night, think again. More and more couples are serving another round of food, passing out late-night snacks before the reception comes to an end. What's the best time to serve the treats? Our wedding etiquette experts are here to answer your catering questions in our daily post.
Our friends and family members are probably going to party into the wee hours of the night, so we wanted to serve some late-night snacks so they can refuel. What time should we have our caterer send them out?
Surprising late-night revelers with a delicious treat is pretty much the perfect way to end your reception. Late-night snacks work best when the reception ends at 11 p.m. or later; any earlier would be too much food since you'd be serving the snacks almost immediately after dessert. Have your caterers set up a late-night snack station next to the dance floor or send servers out with trays of treats about an hour or hour and a half before the end of the reception.
Work with your caterer to choose one or two snacks that you and your guests will love. Sliders and French fries are always guaranteed crowd-pleasers, or you could go the sweet route with shot glasses of milk paired with cookies or a miniature root beer float. Think about the season, too: If you're having a winter wedding, mini mugs of hot cocoa or apple cider might be nice for guests to sip as the evening begins to wind down, while popsicles or ice cream cones would be totally refreshing for guests tearing it up on the dance floor.
