It's no surprise that we love a stylish white dress. Whether a bride is dressed in one on her wedding day, a designer is sending one down the runway at Bridal Fashion Week, or a celebrity is rocking one on the red carpet, a white dress is a classic, fresh, and chic blank slate for accessories. Plus, the hue is ripe with possibilities for new interpretations—we think it should be every celebrity's go-to color! This week, we looked to the Oscars for the best ivory, cream, and metallic gowns to bring you these stunning, wedding-worthy looks.
Cate Blanchett in Armani
Blanchett was a winner two times over last night! She accepted the Best Actress statue for her work in Blue Jasmine in this award-worthy appliquéd blush dress. The muted tone was seen all over last night's red carpet, from Jessica Biel's sequined Chanel to Jenna Dewan Tatum's sparkly Reem Acra, but Blanchett's take on the classically bridal color is very Oscar-worthy. We love the illusion short sleeves and slightly voluminous skirt. Her statement earrings and wavy hair evoke Old Hollywood glam—a vibe that befits an actress who once won an Oscar for portraying Katharine Hepburn. This is a wedding day look we highly recommend for any bride who wants to feel like movie royalty!

Capes are becoming a major red carpet look, and we love it! Following in the footsteps of Lupita Nyong'o's show-stopping red Ralph Lauren cape from the Golden Globes, the engaged Hudson shows us the kind of dramatic wedding day ensemble she might wear to marry fiancé Matthew Bellamy. The beaded cape she wore with her plunging V-neck dress is so stunning, and the train adds a bit of classic wedding style to the otherwise daring look. It's just the kind of detail that a princess-like bride should include.
Jennifer Garner in Oscar de la Renta

After standing by hubby Ben Affleck's side throughout last year's awards season while he cleaned up for Argo, Garner took center stage this year for her work in Dallas Buyers Club. She took full advantage of that spotlight in this gorgeous silver tulle tiered fringe gown last night. Her simple, wavy locks looked great with the sophisticated, perfectly bridal dress. We're always a fan of a metallic wedding dress, especially for wintertime or very formal events. Imagine slipping into a festive gown like this for your wedding reception; it'll move beautifully during your first dance!
