T.J. Oshie may be going for the gold as part of the U.S. Olympic hockey team (who, by the way, played in the Quarterfinal today in Sochi!), but he's won something even more important at home—the heart of fiancée Lauren Cosgrove.
Oshie met his love in North Dakota while the two attended college. Now the pair, both of whom are Minnesota natives, live together in St. Louis, where Oshie plays forward for The Blues.
The hockey heartthrob's four-goal shootout this past Saturday led to a Team USA win over Russia and made him a instant star in the states. And Cosgrove? Well, she's become an instant celeb, too (Hello, People story!). And The International Business Times reports that the bombshell hockey-wife-to-be gained almost 5,000 followers just because of her honey's weekend win.
Oshie proposed to Cosgrove, his girlfriend of three years, on their third anniversary, right before he left for Sochi. But a wedding isn't the only exciting event in the couple's future—they're also about to become parents! Cosgrove is eight months pregnant, and joked that the U.S. hockey team's exciting win nearly caused her to go in labor! (See the adorable Instagram of her bump, below.) "A slew of emotions came over me when T.J. scored the final goal," Cosgrove told St. Louis Today about the big win. "There's so much going on in our lives. I wish I was over there, but being 33 weeks pregnant, I'd only last an hour and then I'd have to be horizontal."
We're totally smitten with the adorable pair, and with their newfound celebrity, we're sure their wedding will be one to watch.
We love Cosgrove's ultra-glam halo-set engagement ring (well done, T.J.!) and killer body, we're betting that when it comes time to choose a wedding dress she'll go for something sexy like a luxe silk sheath with a low-cut back or a glitzy body-hugging mermaid gown. And with their northern roots and his affinity for the ice, we can totally see the pair going for a glam winter wedding—luscious winter-themed cakes, furs, crackling fireplace and all!
Good luck—on and off the ice—to this golden couple!
