Don't want to exclude your dog from your wedding ceremony or reception? You don't have to! Our wedding etiquette experts have some ideas on ways to incorporate your furry family member.
What are some fun ways to include our dog in the wedding?
More and more couples are including their canine family members in their wedding day. And why not? It's an awesome way of showing your personality as a couple and giving a big role to your "child." Guests will be talking about it for long after your wedding, too. Here, a few of our favorite ideas:
1. Include your dog in the wedding party and ask a bridesmaid or groomsman to walk him down the aisle. Figure out which of your bridal party members are the most dog-friendly and won't mind holding the leash for the remainder of the ceremony after the adorable processional. Just be sure to clear this with your venue, first, to make sure they allow pets. And if you designate your pup as the official "ring bearer," don't send him down the aisle with the actual rings (too risky!).
2. Just have your pup around that day. Having Fido around will calm your nerves as you get ready for the wedding. Just ask a dog-loving friend to be your designated dog-minder or hire a dog-sitter for the day.
3. Pose for pictures together. Talk to your photographer about including your pup in your engagement shoot, save-the-date photo, couple portraits, or wedding day pictures. You are going to treasure those photos.
