Valentine's Day is on the way, and if the idea of dressing up and making big plans feels exhausting and overwhelming to you, we totally get it. Yes, in years past you may have been in the mood for surprise weekend getaways and elaborate dinners out. But this year? You're planning a wedding, and you're pouring all of your energy and romantic efforts in that direction. Here, four ideas for simple, low-key Valentine's Day plans that are still completely cupid-approved.
1. Play hooky. Skip the Valentine's Day dinner—celebrate during the day instead! Valentine's Day falls on a Friday this year, so if you can swing it at work, take the day off and schedule an afternoon-date with your fiancé. Make a low-key lunch reservation, visit your local zoo (what's more heartwarming than adorable animals?), and cap the day off with champagne and hors d'oeuvres at home.
2. Put your love on ice. Check the schedule at your local ice rink and see if there's a Valentine's Day skate available. (Bonus points if there's a romantic outdoor rink in your area!) A quick hour fumbling around the ice together, followed by hot cocoa at your favorite cafe, makes for a memorable holiday—no reservations required!

3. Picnic in your living room. Picnics aren't just for summer days! You can create a romantic indoor picnic, too. Spread out a blanket on your living room floor, light some candles on the coffee table, put on some good music, and enjoy a traditional picnic spread. (Think cold roast chicken, sparkling lemonade or wine, tea sandwiches, fruit and cheese, and a flourless chocolate cake for dessert.) The best part about being on a blanket with your fiancé? There's no pesky table in the way when you want to kiss him!

4. Plan a movie night. No, we're not suggesting you hit the theater—and we're not suggesting you settle for your regular old Netflix night, either. Pick a romantic movie that you both love (When Harry Met Sally, perhaps?) or a classic film that neither of you has seen, order your favorite take-out, pop some champagne and then settle down on the couch with gourmet popcorn and lots of concession-stand candies. Sweet!
