The Fine Print: The treatment, which runs $150 for a 30-minute session, doesn't replace your regular cleanings—while it lifts surface stains and removes plaque, it doesn't budge tartar, which leads to cavities. Instead, Dr. Rozenberg says, think of it as a pre-wedding touch up, like a manicure or highlights.
Not in NYC? Many dentists will provide a baking soda power wash on request. "If your dentist has a prophy jet tool (most do) and a baking soda mixture, you can probably ask him or her for microdentabrasion," Dr. Rozenberg says. The treatment can last up to three months as long as you go easy on the coffee, but Dr. Rozenberg suggests booking an appointment two weeks before your wedding.
The Verdict: After one microdentabrasion session, we loved how incredibly smooth, polished and clean our teeth felt. And while micro-dentabrasion doesn't have the same effects as a whitening treatment, it can augment whatever whitening regimen you're already using (or planning). Whitening agents are not only safe to apply on top of micro-dentabrasion, but they can help amplify the results.
