The most popular hairstyle at this year's Golden Globes was refreshingly short. During last year's awards season, virtually every female celebrity walked the red carpet ushered in sporting mermaid waves. Romantic, glossy, almost impossibly long (with some help from extensions), stars' flowing manes were parted deep to the side and thrown over one shoulder as far as the eye could see.
But as bridal as The Jessica Rabbit look is, this year's Globes saw scarcely a rippling wave. Instead, we spotted strands creeping way up into chic, ultra-modern bobs. Some were piece-y, some wavy, some just long enough for an after-party ponytail. But our favorites were smooth and razor-edged. Blame Jennifer Lawrence and her adorable pixie for the ever-rising coifs, but whatever is going on, we're digging it.
The best part? A blunt, architectural bob looks just as striking against a wedding dress as it does with these A-listers' red-carpet frocks. Introducing your new wedding-day hairspiration:
Elisabeth Moss
The Mad Men actress (seen above), a brand-new Golden Globe winner for her work in Jane Campion's haunting miniseries Top of the Lake, chatted with E!'s Giuliana Rancic about how much she loves her low-maintenance, piece-y 'do—before flipping the bird to the Mani Cam in one of the most awesomely unexpected moments of the evening. Elisabeth, welcome to our fantasy best friends club.

The Parks and Recreation star has been rocking this clean, sophisticated style for some time, but it looked just right with her streamlined Oscar de la Renta gown.

Remember when Reese knocked our socks off with those incredible post-breakup bangs? She just upped her game with some of the sleekest locks we saw all night.
Naomi Watts

We've long loved Naomi's glossy waves and updos, but this minimalist, shoulder-length chop works wonders for her—and her glittery, necklace-collared Tom Ford gown.

Thanks to the rather massive shoulder ruffle on her dress, we're not entirely sure what was happening south of Paula's left ear. But her preppy, tucked-back bob was perfectly paired with classic makeup and statement earrings.
