Weddings often require a ton of travelling—be it to your dream destination wedding or honeymoon of a lifetime. As editor in chief of Jetsetter.com, Kate Maxwell has logged countless hours at 35,000 feet. Here's her carry-on survival kit for your long-haul flight to Oz.
Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15
I give my lips a swipe of this before I get off the plane. Fresh is amazing. I have just about everything they make, from shower gel to mascara.
Cashmere wrap, socks, gloves
I pack for the North Pole on planes—it gets cold up there.
Pickled Onion Monster Munch
My snack of choice if I'm flying from London.
Sour Cream and Onion Popchips
My last resort if I'm flying from New York. If you haven't tried Monster Munch crisps yet, well, my condolences. Popchips aren't really in the same league, but they are the best substitute I've found.
Altoids (see above)
Refresh eyedrops
A couple of squirts help me wake up after a long flight.
Glasses and contact lenses
Unless I'm sitting next to someone particularly appealing, I switch to glasses when I get on the plane and pop my contacts back in when I land.
Bikini
In case of an emergency ocean landing or lost luggage. I've been stung by the latter many times. Bikini-shopping in the developing world is not really recommended.
Nike Free sneakers (see above)
Wad of magazines and newspapers
New York Times, New York Post, Condé Nast Traveler, Monocle, Vogue. Plus, whatever book I'm reading.
iPad loaded with movies and shows
This includes: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and seasons four and five of The Wire.
iPhone full of music
Mark Ronson and Beastie Boys for takeoff; Daft Punk and the Stone Roses for 35,000 feet.
L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream
My hands tend to get dry. This makes them super-soft and smells divine.
Ambien
If I could take only one thing on a red-eye, this would be it. One pill, one glass of red wine—see you when I land.
My grandmother's lucky gold necklace
It has a clasp in the shape of a hand with a tiny emerald, and is way too precious to pack.
