Your wedding ceremony will surely be plenty romantic—it's the start of your long-anticipated wedding day, you get your first look at your handsome groom, you say some heartfelt vows with all of your closest friends and family looking on, and you can have that first kiss—but some brides want to play up the romance factor, and for good reason! But will candles set the right mood for an afternoon wedding ceremony, or will they not have the intended effect? Our wedding etiquette experts are here to answer your wedding ceremony questions in our daily post.

I would like to have candlelight vows for a romantic ambience at my wedding ceremony, but my wedding will be at two in the afternoon. Will that look weird?

Not necessarily, but it will be less than effective and a waste of money, especially if you plan to have your wedding ceremony outdoors. Without darkness to contrast with the flickering light from the flames, you will lose the candles' impact and luminescence, as well as the romantic glow you are after. Move your vows forward a few hours so they are closer to dusk, or save the mood lighting for the wedding reception or for the wedding night. For a more daytime friendly mood-enhancing element, try something like a flowery altar. Trust us, even without the intimate candles, you will feel the love throughout the entire ceremony and beyond.
