As we've come to know and love from Claire Pettibone, we were not at all surprised to see that her fall 2014 bridal runway show was chock-full of lovely lace designs. From bias-cut silhouettes to tiered scalloping, the queen of boho chic wedding dresses sent romantic sheaths down the petal-strewn runway that did not disappoint.

The range, however, took a bit more of a dramatic turn this go-round. Butterflies and flowers painted onto lace hung onto the slinky shapes, inspired by 17th century still life portraits. Of course, Pettibone also included her enticing keyhole and illusion backs (some even sported lively floral appliqués!)

"In the second half of the 17th century, the art of the floral still life reached the height of fashion," Claire Pettibone said in her inspiration statement. "Dramatic arrangements of flora and fauna, insects and fruits, set against dramatic dark backgrounds exude a mysterious romanticism. The brilliance of nature's beauty is highlighted to dramatic effect, just as the bride becomes the center of our attention. Painterly butterflies and floral details grade delicate silks and laces gilded in gold, glowing as if lit from within. Oh, the unexplainable mystery of love!"
