After the stress of planning and the joy of the wedding ceremony and reception, it's time to navigate married life. For starters, how do you figure out holidays with your in-laws? Our etiquette experts are here to answer your questions in our daily post.
Both of our families live a plane flight away and want us around for Thanksgiving and Christmas. How do we split up the holidays?
Does your family always do a huge Thanksgiving feast? Does your groom's family have a special tree-trimming ceremony every year? If one holiday is clearly more important to you, try claiming that one for your family and spending the other one with his (or vice versa). But if both your families are Turkey Day diehards, the easiest option may be the ol' holiday switch-off: One year, it's Thanksgiving at your family's house and Christmas at his; the next, it's Thanksgiving at his and Christmas at yours. Everyone may be a little bit grouchy about the arrangement, but no one can say it's not fair.
