Megan and Cary married at the Waveny House, a historic mansion and public park in New Canaan, where the bride grew up. "When we decided to marry in Connecticut and not Chicago, Waveny was the only venue we considered," says Megan, who wore a gown by La Sposa. Cary wore a J.Crew suit.

The ceremony, held in the property's walled garden, included a reading of an excerpt from Goodridge v. Department of Public Health by Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall, performed by the groom's friend. "We wanted to acknowledge that not everyone has the legal right to marry yet, and call out that Connecticut recognizes that right," says Megan.

The reception was held inside the mansion, where tables displayed centerpieces of dusty miller, daffodils, hydrangeas, craspedia, succulents, fiddleheads, and ranunculuses. All floral design was by Fleur de Lys. Dinner, provided by Fitzgerald's Fine Catering, included a choice of herbed chicken breast or beef tenderloin.
