After proposing in front of the Chicago sushi restaurant where they'd had their first date, Rebecca and Daniel went for drinks atop the John Hancock tower, where Rebecca's parents had celebrated their own engagement some 35 years prior. Upon arrival, Rebecca was surprised by both of their families, who'd gathered to toast the couple's engagement.
The couple chose to hold their 2 p.m. ceremony at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington, the bride's childhood parish. And after the ceremony, guests made their way to a private club, where they found escort cards displayed in wood boxes handmade by Daniel's father.
To kick off the party, the newlyweds chose "Days Like This" by Van Morrison for their first dance, followed by the father-daughter dance performed by Standing Room Only. The night included toasts as well as a performance of "Danny Boy" by Paddy Homan, an Irish tenor and family friend, in honor of the couple's Irish heritage. "We were so thankful to be surrounded by so much love," says Rebecca.
